Are you a member of the NCR Facebook Group?  There is probably more accurate schedule information out there.

I’ll at least work on getting the wrong-schedule taken off of the website to avoid confusion.

I’m in Longmont.  I’ve got a few motor casings/closures, etc (70+), both CTI and Aerotech, 24,29,38,54mm.  Some reloads and SU motors (80ish).  Some mid and high power rockets built, partially built, and kits (or just parts piles).  Some electronics recent and older.

I’m not on these forums much, so email me if you want an Excel spreadsheet that is mostly complete.

In case you had any doubts or were still wondering, our High Skies in July launch event has been cancelled.  Received the official decision Friday.  This will be a long, dry summer.  Please note, this drought could last throughout the summer months.  Scattered showers have had little effect on the prairie and the vegetation remains cured and very dry.  Hopefully, a shift in weather patterns will bring the necessary precipitation to green life up on the Pawnee and help make it possible to resume punching holes in the sky.

Looks like CRASH is still holding launches near Ft. Lupton.  SCORE welcomes United Launch Alliance for an Intern launch project on July 20th.  Tripoli Colorado hopes to keep flying on July 21st

And August 3rd through 9th, the Southern Colorado Rocketeers will host the National Association of Rocketry Annual Meeting 65! 7 days of flying fun! Low power, high power, contests, etc. 12,000 Ft AGL waiver, 2 NM recovery area! Onsite Camping on their beautiful range!

Celebrate the 4th of July responsibly.
Please stay safe everyone.

Weather pending, we are GO for launch at our scheduled Northern Colorado Rocketry launch event on Sat, 12/2/23 at the Atlas launch site. We are GO for Launch, subject to normal precautions.

With no fire restrictions currently in place in Weld County or on the Pawnee National Grassland, Let’s hope Mother Nature cooperates.  Expecting partly cloudy skies, winds 4 to 10 mph and maybe temperatures will reach into the forties.  The current weather predictions appear favorable for flying rockets.    The waiver and range should be open at 9 AM and last until 3 PM or until we run out of motors, lose interest or the cold chases us away, whichever happens first.  This launch opportunity will be for commercially approved motors only, up to and including K impulse, and all flights must remain under the 12,000’ AGL ceiling.

We expect a visit from the Colorado State Engineering Outreach Program participants, including lots of scouts from Larimer County. An orientation briefing for participants will be held and will include a discussion of safety and emergency procedures, fire conditions and instruction, applicable rules and regulations, and what is expected of participants with respect to the use of NFS lands under our special use permit.

Please note that all launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices.  The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under Forest Service regulations. The issuance of our permit allows launch events to take place on approved dates only.

Please Save the Date for our Annual Business Meeting and Swap Meet – Saturday, January 13th, 2024.  Consider this a call for Agenda items and Officer Nominations.  More information to follow….

As always, volunteers are needed to help with range set up, operation and clean up. Hope to see you out on the range.

And only if you are able to, any help for Jenn and Jason’s family would be greatly appreciated.    https://www.gofundme.com/f/jenn-chamberlins-family?utm_campaign=p_lico+share-sheet-first-launch&utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook

HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

Our plan is to go ahead with our launch on Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6.  Given the recent rains, it warrants mentioning that the ground may be soft out there. Vehicles will need to stay immediately next to the road to keep from tearing causing resource damage.  Expect some cloud cover and afternoon thunderstorms.  FYI, the recent storms have been bringing hail with them too.

Expect the range and waiver (20,000’ AGL) to be operational by 9 AM to 5 PM Remember Range Etiquette.  If you find a gate closed, close it behind you.  Please treat our National Grassland with respect.  As is typical with visiting or camping in most public areas, we are required to remove all of our trash.  Be considerate and responsible.  If you bring it, be prepared to leave with it.  Please clean up your parking and prep area before you leave and take all of your stuff with you.  Port-a-potties will be on site.

NCR is an Authorized Permitee of the Pawnee National Grassland.  A morning orientation briefing for participants will be held and will include a discussion of safety and emergency procedures, fire conditions and instruction, applicable rules and regulations, and what is expected of participants with regards to the use of NFS lands under our special use permit.

Please note that all launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices.  The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under a Forest Service Region 2 fire regulation.  The issuance of NCR’s permit allows launches to take place by exempting the Holder from that regulation for approved launch events only.  All launches, other than those conducted by the Holder during approved launch events, are outside the scope of this permit and are prohibited by Forest Service regulations.

As always, volunteers are needed to help with range set up, operation and clean up.
Hope to see you out on the range.

High Skies in July 2023 has received the green light from the US Forest Service for the coming weekend of July 7,8,9  on the Pawnee National Grassland at NCR’s North Site.  Our waiver will be a constant 20,000’ AGL, with “windows of opportunity” for higher altitudes shots on Saturday and Sunday.  We anticipate having the range set up and ready by 9 AM on Friday and we’ll operate until 6 PM.  Proof of current NAR or TRA membership is required for high powered flying. The extended weather forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with characteristically light winds and comfortable to hot temperatures, and probable afternoon thundershowers.  Come prepared for all types of weather.  This should be an awesome weekend for flying. Please remember that Range Safety is in everyone’s best interest.

An orientation briefing for participants will be held each morning and will include a discussion of safety and emergency procedures, fire conditions and instruction, applicable rules and regulation, and what is expected of participants with respect to the use of NFS lands under our special use permit. Please remember that Range Safety is in everyone’s best interest.

Please note that all launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices.  The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under Forest Service regulations. The issuance of our permit allows launches to take place for approved launch events only.

No fire restrictions are currently in place in Weld County or on the Pawnee NG, but that is subject to change and a Red Flag Warning or Fire Weather Watch would preclude launch activities.  The prairie remains green but is starting to crisp up due to recent winds and hot weather.  NO “sparky” motor types allowed.

Remember Range Etiquette.  If you find a gate closed, close it behind you.  Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line. Take as little space as necessary for your campsite.  Foot Recovery only.

The Pawnee National Grassland offers the ultimate in rustic, open space camping although for this event we will have Port-a-Potties on site.  Self sufficient camping is encouraged.

Please treat our National Grassland with respect.  As is typical with camping in most public areas, we are required to remove all of our trash.  Be considerate and responsible.  If you bring it, be prepared to leave with it.  Please clean up your parking and prep area before you leave and take all of your stuff with you.

Hope to see you out on the range.
