North Site - Pawnee Grasslands
Saturday May 4th, 2024
Launch Summary
Scheduled launch. Thanks to Jack Matthews for equipment trailer towing both ways and range set up/tear down. Thanks also to Adrian Adamson for range set up and to George Barnes and Kevin Farrell and others for range shut down. Huge thanks to Utah State University visitors for the use of their borrowed pad from BYU and to Ted and Colin Apke for awesome help as LCO's. And to everyone else that helped keep the wind at manageable levels to get most of a great day in. 60 flights from 38 different fliers, 26 Class One and 34 Class Two. Special thanks to George Barnes for handling the CSU Certifications and Ryan Southworth's. Nice to have Julian Chee visit from Wichita.
Weather Conditions
Spring conditions on the prairie. Partly cloudy skies gave way to lots of sunshine and moderate winds most of the day. Pawnee not nearly as green as it should be for this time of year. Sadly lacking in moisture. As Larry Haynes so adequately describes it, "drier than a popcorn fart."
