2-Mile ClubSlipstick III, is a 10 foot tall 5 inch diameter 38 pound rocket made entirely from G10 FRP. Its based on the Performance Rocketry Eliminator 5 kit, but has custom modifications, for avabays, zipperless construction and an alternate fin design. The fins were layed with a layer of carbon fibre and FRP tip-to-tip. There are two avionics bays, one handles all deployment tasks using a Missileworks RRC2X as the primary controller and a RRC2-mini as a backup. The second avbay is in the nose cone and contains a Garmin DC20 dog tracking GPS transmitter for recovery tracking. Dual deploy using Missileworks RRC2-X with RRC2-min as backup in a shielded avbay. Garmin DC-20 GPS/TX located in nosecone/payload section. Deployment and GPS recovery tracking successful. All launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices. The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under a Forest Service Region 2 fire regulation. The issuance of NCR’s permit allows launches to take place by exempting the Holder from that regulation for approved launch events only. All launches, other than those conducted by the Holder during approved launch events, are outside the scope of this permit and are prohibited by Forest Service regulations.
