North Site - Pawnee Grasslands

Saturday April 1st, 2023

Launch Summary

Scheduled club launch - return to the North Site.  Waiver ready at 9 AM,  5nm radius to flight level 410.  Huge thanks to Jesse Frey and Scott Dukes and Jack Matthews and I'm sure ther were others that helped get the range set.  Port-a-potties couldn't get set up in the gale force winds Friday night but they returned early Saturday to everyone's relief.    Prairie was bare and dry.  Rain much needed to help prevent a dust bowl situation.  

Weather Conditions

Gale force winds Friday night made for a miserable time but Saturday morning, clear and calm.  Light wind pretty much all day long made for some great flying weather.

All launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices. The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under a Forest Service Region 2 fire regulation. The issuance of NCR’s permit allows launches to take place by exempting the Holder from that regulation for approved launch events only. All launches, other than those conducted by the Holder during approved launch events, are outside the scope of this permit and are prohibited by Forest Service regulations.
