NCR Club Launch - June 2008

Launch Summary

Regularly scheduled club launch.  Thanks to Ken Plattner for trailer towing out and to Mike Bennett for towing back.  38 flyers put up 130 flights.  Kira Schmidt had 16 flights, chased by Jon Skuba with 10.  Notable flights include three cert flights, Jeremiah Johnson and Doug Schmidt for L1 and Brent McNeely for L2.  Other notable flights should include MArk Lionberger's boost and recovery from 17,292', Emmett Neilsen's G SuperRoc, Nathan Plattner's 3 C cluster Argos and all of the contest flights in the Pawnee Pioneer Open.  Thanks go out to all of the volunteer timers and range assistants.  All flights are listed in random order as the launch and contest cards have been mixed and matched for ease in tabulating results.  Motor usage breaks down as follows, with staged and clusters credited to the largest motor burned.  A's=3, B's=15, C's=28, D's=16, E's=4, F's=7, G's=13, H's=7, I's=8, J's=5, K's=3 and L's=2.     Pawnee Contest results and Meeting Notes will be posted elsewhere.

Weather Conditions

Perfect weather for competitive flying and a potluck BarBQue.  Range and waiver were open by 9 AM under clear blue skies, with just a wisp of wind.  Mid day temps reached into the 70's and into the 80's around the grill.  Contest flying ended at 4 and the range at 5.   By 6 PM a cold front moved in from the Northwest with a biting wind, heavy cloud cover  and scattered showers, impeding the view of the International Space Station's pass overhead at 8:40.  Overnight temperatures were in the low fifties but the wind chill factor made for a colder night on the prairie.
