Launch Summary

The beautiful weather brought out another big group of flyers to chase the skies. Three Level 1 certifications and one Level 2 flights took place. Ken Mizoi unveiled his beautiful upscaled Sprite made of carbon fiber construction. The rocket making its maiden flight was bright orange except for the areas on the tell-tale ring of the Sprite where clear coated carbon weave was left visible. Unfortunately the Kosdon K777 pushed the Sprite past its limits and the rocket shredded shortly after burnout of the big motor. Greg Joziaski wowed the crowd with his big 10K 2-Stage rocket carrying RDAS equipeed with GPS. The plots on his laptop were very impressive... nice going Greg. Bob Messner flew his Sling Shot to 8,303' to raise the bar on the Icarus contest, then John Wilke made an attempt with Contender, but a hard landing killed his altimeter.

Weather Conditions

A beautiful spring day on the prairie with temps reaching the low 70's and breezes througout the day. Winds aloft were not significant, so the high altitude flights were not affected.
