Launch Summary

Please be advised the Northern Colorado Rocketry Club (NCR) is planning a launch event for multiple Class 2 rockets on Friday, May 31st, Saturday, June 1st and Sunday June 2nd , from the North Site.  Hours of operation 8AM until 6 PM local, 1400 to 2359 Zulu.

3 Nautical Mile radius from the GLL VOR 337 at 023 NM   Surface to flight Level 410.

Regularly scheduled launch.  Great to be be back on the prairie after the wind and dust at NSL-West in Alamosa.  So much fun to see friends from far away and long time missing, like Wayne Comfort  and Sharon Hodges and Mike Shinn.  Huge thanks to Jack Matthews for once again being the equipment trailer tow out and back.  And for range set up and tear down.  And Kudos to all that stepped up and helped with range operations, from set up to LCO/RSO duties and Fire Watch.  Fortunate to have a USFS Fire Truck and crew on scene - glad we didn't need them.  

Weather Conditions

Wind and rain Thursday night left a heavy cloud cover Friday morning that slowly burned off and made for a nice day on the prairie.  Flight line slowly filled in with the usual suspects and the skies above cleared enough for 26 different fliers to put up 52 flights.

All launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices. The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under a Forest Service Region 2 fire regulation. The issuance of NCR’s permit allows launches to take place by exempting the Holder from that regulation for approved launch events only. All launches, other than those conducted by the Holder during approved launch events, are outside the scope of this permit and are prohibited by Forest Service regulations.
