Atlas Site - Pawnee Grasslands
Saturday February 14th, 2026
Launch Summary
Weather backup date for regularly scheduled launch that didn't happen last week due to Red Flag Warnings and HIGH Winds. Huge thanks to the Idaho Hotshots that came out to watch, all 15 of them. Happy to report we put on a good show for the day and didn't need their help with any problems on the range. 39 different fliers put up 66 flights including several Certification flights for students from CSU and CU. Huge thanks to Jack for towing both ways and to Greg Caster and CSU crew for help with range set up and cleanup.
Weather Conditions
A rather remarkable, sweetheart of a winter day on the prairie. Waiver at 9 AM with fairly steady winds from the west northwest ranging in 8 to 13 mph, gradually decreasing as the Pawnee warmed up under clear blue skies. Wind almost completely disappeared by noon and temps might have peaked at sixty degrees. Valentine's Day special weather for Larry Haynes and Ed Wullschleger also celebrating their birthdays.
