North Site - Pawnee National Grasslands
Sunday August 11th, 2013
Launch Summary
Second half of the regularly scheduled weekend. Awesome overnight light show and the occasional spit of rain but nothing heavy or severe, fortunately. Unfortunately, heavy cloud cover prevented good viewing of the Persied meteror showers. 17 different flyers put up another 51 flights - 37 Class One and 14 Class Two. Notable flights should include David Bauer's "Beech Staggerwing" and "Tape Worm", Ben Adolph's "The Boom" and brother Daniel's "Amazon", and David Deupree's "Thug". Motor usage breaks down as follows: - A's=2, B's=1, C's=5, D's=4, E's=10, F's=10, G's=5, H's=5, I's=4, J's=4 and K's=1
Weather Conditions
Overcast and low cloud ceiling promised to eventually clear while sprinkles of light rain kept falling occasionally. Clouds disappeared slowly, clearing off for a partly clear sky and the wide open blue that should have been a better day than Saturday's weather. Big threat of afternoon thundershowers chased us off the prairie by 4 PM.
