North Site - Pawnee National Grassland
Saturday November 3rd, 2007
Launch Summary
Regularly scheduled club launch. Range and waiver were operational from 9 AM until 4 PM thanks to the set up help from Ken and other volunteers. Thanks again to Ken Plattner for towing out the equipment trailer and to Mike Bennett for towing it back to storage. Prasie and Thanksgiving to Tim Thomas from Giant Leap Rocketry for bringing the store. 25 flyers put up 50 flights. Geoff Givens and Jon Skuba each had six flights to lead the day. Notable flights should include the two successful L1 cert flights made by Scott Evans with his Cirrus Dart and Karl Greve with his Raven and the hard landing DQ of Jeremiah Johnson's Bullet. Other notable flights should include Adrian Adamson's "Shuttlecock in a Haystack" F record attempt flight and Jon Skuba's "Krug-Hoag Cluster Master" on an Aerotech H268 and 6 RoadRunner F60's, Geoff Givens's "Captain Electric's Medivac" and John Reilly's "Callisto" on an Aerotech I200 which unfortunately is still out on the prairie somewhere. Flights are listed in a random order as the flight cards have been shuffled and sorted a few times eliminating the correct sequence of events. Motor usage breaks down as follows, with staged and clusters credited to the largest motor used. A's=2, no B's, C's=5, D's=7, E's=5, F's=6, G's=8, H's=8, I's=6, and J's=3.
Weather Conditions
Glorious sunshine and warm temperatures for early November. Unfortunately, gentle ground winds grew as the day progressed and the winds aloft also kicked it up to make for longer than desired recovery walks.
