Northern Colorado Rocketry
2008-12-06 NCR Club Launch - December 2008

Atlas Site - Pawnee National Grasslands

Saturday December 6th, 2008

Launch Summary

Regularly scheduled club launch.  Thanks to Ken and John Reilly for towing our equipment trailer out and back.  Thanks to Chad Moore, Jon Skuba, Ed Wranosky, Art Hoag, Mike Shinn, Ken Sherman and Warren DeBelle for help with set up and pack up.  18 different flyers put up a total of 41 flights.  Notable flights include Mike Konshack's "The Twins", Adrian's G-record flight, Tim's "Gooney Bird", Mike Shinn's Upscale Mosquito and Swift. and Brandon Evan's "MiniRoo".    Flights are listed in a completely random order because the cards have been shuffled and sorted a few times to eliminate the exact sequence of events.  Motors usage breaks down as follows, with staged flights and clusters credited to the largest motor used.  1/2A's=1, B's=2, C's=9, D's=2, E's=3, F's=2, G's=8, H's=5, I's=4 and J's=5.

Weather Conditions

You had to be there to believe it.  Stunning calm and  comfortable in the forties for most of the day.  The smattering of snow on the ground wasn't enough to inhibit the fun and most of the ground cover had melted by the close of the waiver.  Partly cloudy skies cleared to a multitude of shades of Colorado Blue.  Winds aloft were a little squirrely, caught in the indecision of which way to blow until later in the day when the northern forces prevailed.  Another great day to be out on the rocket range.  Waiver was active at 9:15 and closed at three.
