Northern Colorado Rocketry
2007-12-01 NCR Club Launch - December 2007

Atlas Site - Pawnee National Grassland

Saturday December 1st, 2007

Launch Summary

Regularly scheduled club launch.  Range and waiver were operational by ten AM, delayed by the freezing rain and breaking cloud cover.  Thanks to Scott Evans for towing the trailer out and back. Four flyers put up four flights - listed in the correct sequence.   Mike Konshack earned his Level One Certification with his Slipstick HP1 on an Aerotech H123.   Lucas Greve earned his Level One Certification with his Patriot using an Aerotech I161.  Unfortunately Adriam Adamson lost signal on his F record shot and recovery has yet to made.  Even more unfortunately, after passing the written test, Scott Evans had a difficult recovery with his Quantum Leap on his Level Two Certification attempt.

Weather Conditions

Occasionally the weather forecasters get it right.  Very early morning freezing drizzle made for treacherous roads and a long pause on site before the cloud ceiling lifted and opened opportunities to fly in to the clear, cold sky.  The winds aloft were mostly from the NNW but relatively calm considering the wintry mix we experienced.  Temperatures never rallied until almost two o'clock but by then we'd froze long enough to call it a day.
