Atlas Site - Pawnee Grasslands

Launch Summary

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 1st approved launch event for 2026.  Special treat - 5 person fire crew from the Eldorado National Forest in California came out to watch/babysit our operations.  Pawnee remains incredibly dry due to prolonged drought and late summer rains that produced a great crop of feed for the ranchers and fuel for wildfires.  CSU Ram Team on site for Certifications and USLI Sub-scale flight.    24 different fliers put up 47 flights, 19 Class One and 28 Class Two.  Hoag Rocketry had six flights to Jon Skuba's five.  And we're off and flying.....

Weather Conditions

Incredible winter day on the prairie.  Super mild winds from the south, 3 to 8 mph, clear skies and warm sunshine.  Hard to believe it got to 55 degrees.

All launch events will be conducted using nationally approved/accepted range safety practices. The launching of rockets on NFS land is normally prohibited under a Forest Service Region 2 fire regulation. The issuance of NCR’s permit allows launches to take place by exempting the Holder from that regulation for approved launch events only. All launches, other than those conducted by the Holder during approved launch events, are outside the scope of this permit and are prohibited by Forest Service regulations.
