NCR Club Launch - July 2008

Launch Summary

Regularly scheduled club launch.  Thanks to Ken Reilly for towing both ways.  Thanks to Mike Shinn, Warren DeBelle, Ed Dawson and Scott Evans for help with range operations - set up and clean up.  Accolades to Tim Thomas for bringing the store and showing off the new Cessaroni Reds.  Great to meet so many new flyers (Savanna and Chad Moore, the Wyrwas family, the Youngs) and see some older members back on the range (Bob Messner, Tim Moore).  35 flyers put up 94 flights.  Doug Young led the day with 6 flights.  Notable flights include the NAR Jr L1 Cert for Mark Berkheim and Dave Holloway's return to L1 with TRA.  Other notable flights should include the many Drag Races for the low power rack and the Frazier's Tomahawk race on the new I195 Red for CTI, Mike Shinn's Pawnee Arrow and Ken Reilly's Thor.    Flights are listed in a random order.  Motor usage breaks down as follows, with staged flights and clusters credited to the largest motor used.  A's=4, B's=7, C's=28, D's=6, E's=3, F's=6, G's=10, H's=10, I's=12, J's=4 nd K's=4. 

Weather Conditions

Another phenomenal day on the range.  The sun baked the unwary.  Warm weather prevailed across the prairie. with subtle ground wifts of cooling breeze and virtually no winds aloft for most of the day.  Temperatures probably reached into the high 80's and the predicted cloud cover and strong winds from the southeast never materialized.  Waiver was operational from 8:30 until 4 when the cannon sounded.
