Launch Summary

It appeared the cold, windy weather would cause us to scrub this launch, but we've learned to live by the old addage, "wait an hour or walk a mile". Opting for the former, we started a little late and filled the day with a rich pallete of beautiful flights. From the multiple drags races on the small rods to witnessing the K altitude record fall - twice in a single day. Conway Stevens took it first with a successful 11,459' AGL flight followed by John Wilke's monster 15,682'AGL flight. Bob Messner set a new D Impulse altitude record with a 2,895' AGL flight of the DX Ram. Then he joined the mile high club with his 7,312'AGL boost using tried and true Thunder Hawk. It warmed enough to bring out the Hybrid ground support for Eric Parson's flight of the impressive Totally Tubular on a K240 - the roar was noted 1.5 miles down range by radio traffic stating "... I hope nobody got hurt by that ..."

Weather Conditions

Early morning temps hovered around 35 degrees with strong winds and mostly cloudy skies. Mid morning brought clearing and the winds calmed. Temperatures climbed to mid 50's and the sky was clear the remainder of the day - only slight breezes persisted through the day.
