Launch Summary

Regularly scheduled club launch - Back to flight status after a summer long drought and Burn Ban. Range and waiver were opened by 8:30. Thanks to Ken Plattner for towing the equipment trailer both ways. Great to see Tim Thomas from Giant Leap arrive on site. Surprizingly few folks acccepted the challenge of Colorado's erratic weather. Hooray for the 14 flyers that lofted 49 flights on a day that was clear, calm and dry until 2. Congratulations to Ken Plattner for his L2 with NAR. John Reilly staged C's and Art Hoag chad staged a B to an A. Clustered and Staged flights are counted as one flight and credited to the largest motor. Thanks to our LCO's for the day - Bill Heath, Art Hoag and Ken Reilly. Motors - A's=0, B's=6, C's=8, D's=9, E's=3, F's=1, G's=6, H's=5, I's=5 and J's=6.

Weather Conditions

Typical early fall weather for Colorado's prairies. A clear and calm morning with barely a trace of wind aloft yielding the way to patchy high clouds later on and eventually opening up with a thundershower and windy gusts. Range operations closed for the day after 2 PM when the weather changed and quickly soaked the ground. A heavy thundershower passed after about ten minutes but threatened more of the same for the remainder of the afternoon.
