Has anyone ever used the Aerocon Systems low profile key switch for arming altimeters? I just purchased a couple and wanted to know if there were any issues with them.
Ken.
Ken, I haven’t. The only key switches I’ve used are from:
http://www.allelectronics.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi Type in “key switches”
They’re not low profile, and are the ones used on older computers, but the nice thing about them is that they only come out when the system is armed. Can’t forget to arm it–but I think Aerocon is like that, too. I use one on my VA. The hole for them is 1/2″, which is smaller than the 3/4″ Aerocon switches, but they stick out about half inch or so inside, probably longer on the inside of the avionics bay than the Aerocon switches. But 3/4″ is a pretty large hole. Mine are S.P.S.T.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
