A nosecone I may order comes ‘ungelcoated’. It’s an extra
$25.00 to get it gelcoated.
Will I have any problems with it if I get it ‘ungelcoated’?
I plan on painting it..
The extra money kind of takes it out of the budget.
Thanks Mike
Gelcoat is a waste of time. So long as it’s dimensionally correct, I wouldn’t worry about it. You’re going to sand and fill it anyway or at least prime and sand it. Without gelcoat, it’s more likely to be pure epoxy and glass all the way out instead of having a brittle coating of gelcoat material.
If I could get the nosecones I want that way, that’s the way I would buy them. Unfortunately, practically everything performance rocketry makes comes gel-coated.
