ParticipantI need someone to fly their rocket off of my launch pad set-up so I can film it at Oktoberfest. I have three flights scheduled but four flights worth of film to burn up. So I can either waste the film, shoot the Twinkie eating contest, or film your rocket.
I would prefer a rather large, slow takeoff (<9 g's), colorful, impressive rocket but no I can't pay for your motor. I will offer you a free print and front row tickets to the screening at Mile High Mayhem. There are some minor requirements that nearly all rockets meet but I ask for anyway and I would prefer someone planning to fly on Friday or Saturday morning.
If this interests you, post a message here, write or pm me to let me know what you’ll be flying. Thanks!

ModeratorWhat size rail is it? I have an 8′ x 4″ Yellow and Blue rocket I’ve been planning on flying on an L1300BB. It has rail guides for 1010 rail.

ParticipantThat’s one of those little requirements. My rail uses the 1515 rail. I can attach a 1010 rail to the rail but it greatly limits what I can do… (I don’t have a liftoff switch for the smaller rail so that eliminates the tracking…)

ModeratorLet me see if I can swap out the guides for 1515 guides… I’ll let you know if I can by Sunday night.

ParticipantI have an all carbon fiber bird I’m going to fly on a K185. It has the small rail buttons. I don’t know if that will work with your rail.

ParticipantDoug, Im planning to team up with 2 people(actually more as im bringing a few motors in various size) for flights on Sundays research Day. All of them in my blue formula. One M and one L flight. As well as some K and J motors to.

How about my EMRR ’07 racer? It’s only 4″ diam with a G or H motor and I need the 1010 rail, …..but (now that the paint is nearly done) that it is going to be an absolutely amazingly styled rocket, complete with windshield, smiling “Captain Electric”, racing stripes, and a cool retro look. At ~45oz on a G, or more on an H, I can also guarantee that it would be a very very slow liftoff. Rocksim says 5.4 g’s on a G64. If you haven’t seen it, a build thread on this is at http://rocketryforum.com/showthread.php?t=37255
I don’t know which way your camera faces but “Captain Electric” or whatever we name him will be seated with his butt toward the rail and his head outward.

ParticipantThanks everyone, there were a lot more interest than I expected. Scott Harlow (sp?) is attempting his level 3 so I chose his rocket. I like filming the certification flights and I’m doing Justin’s as well. Both are expected to fly on Saturday. I have some new cameras and therefore new camera mounts to get different views.
I do have movies to show Friday night but it will be kind of a short clip this time (about 15 or 20 minutes). They are from one flight at MHM (Ed’s level 3 flight) and three more from the make up session in June. There is the two attempts at the drag race between BDCR and BAMF and Ed’s Saturn V flight. Oh yea, Conway’s flight on his home made N redline motor…

Very cool Doug. BTW its Scott Harless. But I know who you meant. No worries. Hey Doug, You staying for research day? If you have something to fly bring it. I have a K motor for you to burn. That is if you want. So what Time does movies start? I may not be able to camp out. But would love to come for Movie time with my daughter.

Doug,
I just wanted to point out that I very glad to hear you focus (pardon the pun) on the cert flights.
I VERY much appreciate you shooting mine and having some incredibly cool film to remember the event.
