Everyone,
As mentioned on another thread Homer Hickam, author of Rocket Boys which the movie October Sky was based on, will be speaking on April 17th at the Stadium Club on the CU campus, with a buffet dinner and book signing.

I have reserved a table with 10 chairs specifically for NCR
9 seats are now taken and there is a good chance that Homer may sit with us briefly. I have sent a check for $245 ($35 each) to make the reservation, so you would only have to settle up with me there. The dinner is a buffet.
Table is reserved for:
Mike Konshak
Greg Rapp
Bret Packard
Cathy Packard
Mike Packard
Chris PaLance
Steve Hendricks
Art Hoag
Bruce SchaeferCheck out the book from the library and read it! (actually Louisville Library was all checked out so I may to to buy it).

ParticipantI will take 2 seats if they are available. My Mom wants to attend with me. If we need all 8 for the club I will get my own reservation, but if we have room and no one minds she would like to join us.

ParticipantOK my Dad wants to come too if we have room. So that’s Bret, Mike an Cathy Packard for me. Please let me know if we get filled up and I’ll get us our own seats. I don’t want any club members left out but if seats need to be filled I’m all over it.

ParticipantMike, I will fill those last two seats if they are still open (myself and a friend of mine, Michael Aisner).

ParticipantMike, the Library site says something about the price including parking somewhere on campus. Do you know if we need parking passes, or where the lot is? I get lost easily over there so close parking would be great for me!
Art, glad to hear you’re coming. A full table of NCR folks – cool!

I’m sorry, the deadline was Sunday, and I didn’t see any more activity, so I gave the extra seats to Chris and Steve. Students always love a free meal. 😀
I sweet talked Carol Heepke (the ramrod of the event) and she says she could find three more seats for you, Michael and Bruce (they have a table that will fit 10) if you want to come. I’ve already given her your names, so You can pay at the door. I’ll know tomorrow (wed) for sure. She’ll call me back to confirm, so you might want to give me your phone numbers.
I asked her to put BCMA on the table, along with NCR, as a tribute to Homer’s Big Creek Missile Agency, but in our case it will be the Boulder County Missile Agency.
I also volunteered us to bring some of our (NCR) HP rockets to put around the room, which she thought was a grand idea, so she’ll get back tomorrow about that as well.

How BIG a rocket… my 12′ 5″ L3 (to get one of the fins signed)?

ParticipantMike, I’ll be sure to let Carol know you said she’s a “ramrod” … 😉
That mental image just cracks me up.
I’ll bring my L1 rocket.

ParticipantYeah, I’d be happy to bring something if they want. Looking forward to tomorrow.

I got the Ok for Everyone to bring a HP rocket (about 6 ft max). Bring your coolest bird. If we end up without enough room we may put some back in the cars. or leave them by the door. I’ll need help carrying Slipstick III and it will probably stand in two pieces. Be willing to let them lean on a wall or sit on a table.
Please double check your avbays and remove any unspent charges or motors.
We can get there early between 5:15 to 5:30 to help set up.
I think we just go north on US36, left on Colorado Avenue, and parking is right in front of the stadium. The Stadium Club is on the east side, 2nd floor.

If there is too much snow, we might blow off carrying bigger rockets in.
Dress is business casual, but then again… its Boulder
