MikeSModeratorThis Works Great. But It May Be ‘Caveman Style’
Problem With Low Currant Timers Starting Motors.

All We Are Looking At Is The PVC ‘Stuff’ The Rest Is
A Test Stand. (Motor Stand And 10″ Tube)Timer Ignites An 1/4A3 Estes Motor. Motor Pushes Piston
To Make Contact With 1-9 Volt Battery (Or More). 9 Volt
Battery Has Direct Contact With Ignitors. The Timer Is Still Used As It Was Intended To Be. I Think
Any Timer Can Light An 1/4A3.It Has Worked On A G64. And I was Able To Light Two
H Ignitors. No One Is Alowed To Laugh In Public. 😆
Still Have Not Recieved My THOR X. (Was Supposed To Be Today)
And I Am Done With My 7.4 Swift. I Had To Do Something.June 1, 2008 at 8:54 pm #48177new2hpr
ParticipantNot laughing! Interesting solution. Why not just use a high current timer (PerfectFlite)? If you’ve got the batteries, it will handle around 30A. Small and relatively cheap as well.

MikeSModeratorI have one coming. Should be here this week.
One needs something to do while One has nothing to do.
Question: In the online instructions there is little mention about
what battery (S) to use.Any suggestion?

I used a standard alkaline 9V with my PF timer on the Big Daddy. I had lots of room and weight was not an issue.

MikeSModeratorIf I remember.
You had hooked both motors to one channel?
They lit a tad seperate?
Would having more than one battery help?
Or is it better to have one channel for each motor?

The PF timers have only one channel and should have lit both motors at the same time. Why there was separation in the starts I haven’t figured out. If you want a timer with two separate channels you would have to go to something like the timer from Missleworks.
As far as using two batteries the PF timer has more than enough juice to light two ematchs or ingnitors with one battery.
See you Saturday.

8) Last weekend over in Utah, I was able to get my hands on 500 ft of thermalite. We started 5 G77 SU on one match from the pad. And later air started 2 G80 with 2 matches. I am going to work on starting 4 F motors with one match next. I will try to get the rig set up tonight and we can test it Saturday. I have a plan for a 2 stage G to 3 X 24 mm airstart motors. All 3 X 24 MM would be outboard. 😀

8) I will carry the roll with me for the next few months. I think this stuff is one answer to several problems. The guys in Utah showed me a few tricks on how to use it in different ways. Fun stuff! 8)
