Jeffrey Joe HintonModeratorMight that have been due to synthetic oil instead of the real stuff? I’m glad I wasn’t driving next to it when she went kablooie.

Ah the cars were old beaters, so no big loss, but the kart engine hurt my feelers along with the wallet, hehe

MikeSModeratorProbably ‘overspeed’… Topping a hill at eighty and not letting up.

Here’s a picture of an engine that through a rod on one of my race bikes in 2000. It comes from the following web page that was about my season:
http://www.650motorcycles.com/MikeKonshak.html

You can see the aluminum rod (less the small end) sticking out at the bottom of the slot. It went through the steel sleeve. The rest of it is still with the piston. Valves were bent as well. This happened on the south banking of Daytona Speedway, going about 135mph. It made quite a clatter! I was able to get the clutch pulled in (before the wheel could lock up) and dropped down as Yvon du Hamel went screaming by top side.
Rockets are safer 😉

😯
No doubt.
And I must say that website is much cooler than your slide rule one.
I traveled over 20,000 miles, raced a total of 72 main events and brought home just as many trophies.
Mike, when you go, you go big, that’s for sure.

Warren B. MusselmanModeratorNo question about it, when Mike gets into something, he goes big in a big way… Robot Wars, Rockets, apparently racing motorcycles… I’d like to see Mike get some really big rocketry ambitions like an S or a T motor sub-orbital.
