I was wondering, if I could put an altimeter in a forward bay up by the nose and run a charge all the way back by the moter, so when the charge whent off it would eject chute,wires and all? Would it just tangle? Any body try this??
May be it would be better to cut the Rocket and install a coupler to modify eject the fin can and main chute rear ward, to modify a single moter ejection, to a single electronic ejection. Thoughts?

If the laundry fit is very loose, you can get away with the charge above the laundry for the aft-most deployment. I’ve had 100% success so far this way, but it’s been a 16″ drogue in a 4″ tube (VERY loose).
Otherwise, I’ve seen many use the long leads and drop the charge below the laundry without a problem. Just be gentle when stuffing in everything. Continuity beeps from the alt should let you know if it’s still OK.

It works fine. That’s how I did the setup in my 24mm booster and Der Mad Rex. I ran the deployment wires along the shock cord, past the chute, to a piston. Then the charge pushes the piston and the chute towards the electronics. No tangling for me. Wrapping the charge wires around the shock cord to make a neat bundle may have helped.

Has been painful at times. With Parrots and Perfectflites getting so small, I’m thinking of running wires down from a nosecone (PML Intellicone) or small payload bay to the piston and fixing a charge canister to the piston (behind it!!).
Running wires down the shock cord works? Anyone tried this?
How about leaving the motor delay ejection charge in place perhaps a bit tardy as a back up?
Shooting stuff up to 5,000 feet doesn’t tell you if it zippered on the way up or after apogee.
Starting to think using altimeter based deployment is needed. Tired of zippers…
