So I tryed painting today, with Paint I have never used, a Gun I have never used, a Hose that was to long, and small, and a Compressor that was to small. 🙁
I guess me and the Sand Paper have a date tomarrow! 😡
Sorry to hear that.
I have dropped a section in the dirt before.
My latest rocket I am having done. A shop We do a lot of
business with is doing it free. They said they will make it look
cool. It’s nerve racking.
What will it look like?
I had them do it because it was so large. A little above
rattle can size. It’s now been five weeks.
I hear you guys. I don’t have the avenue to have it done professionally, and will, sometime this summer, shaker can a 5″ x 10’+ rocket. Only thing good about that, besides being a pretty good distance away from examining eyes in flight, is that when it gets scratched, just touchup with a can. After Art’s profoundly beautiful paint job on my L3, it’s all downhill from here. Ha! Besides, it’s a rocket, meant to fly… and get scratched. 😉
I feel bad, I spray on latex house paint!
🙂

Don’t feel bad – a couple years ago I bought a very nice HVLP paint gun, a trim gun, and an Paasche airbrush. Haven’t hardly painted a thing since aside from Wilke-esque white paint jobs of Kilz high solids primer using rattle cans… I keep meaning to get Art to use his skills and the auto paints I bought to finish my birds, but never seem to get around to it.

Would any of you be interested in doing a Vinyl wrap/decals instead of paint? Send me a PM and I can discuss details with you if you are interested.

Me, me, me!
Yes, do tell.
What type of wraps do you work on? Are you doing solid colors or pattern wraps like Roket Wrapz from Graphixs & Stuff?
Email/PM sent to both of you.
Once I have things more nailed down I’ll post something up.
Scott,
All of mine are auto paint, I’ve been doing it for a long time….
Are you working on this in the hanger this weekend or going to the launch?
I have to bring a trailer to our hanger on Sat, so if you are there I can stop by and help out. I can’t spend a ton of time, we are working on stuff at the house.
Once you have the basics, it’s pretty easy. But, the basics can kick your but trying to figure out…..
If you get time, call me.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
