Nice write up on LDRS Day 5 and kudos to team Odyssey. Art texted me this morning “Perfect Flight, 16K… not a single bug.” I’ve come to realize that this little rocket club we belong to has some really sharp people in it (and nice guys to boot).

AdrianParticipantYep. Colorado was well represented with quite a few flyers who put on a great show. I only wish I could say I helped our batting average 😳 Larry and Max’s prolific flying was flawless when not using AT metalstorm motors (don’t get him started ), Chris had a great big flight, and my gosh, Art and Doug not only flew Odyssey flawlessly, but they managed to do it despite slathering up the largest motor of the event and assembling it while simultaneously being interviewed by a cute TV personality. Sort of a full-twisting double-back for an extra degree of difficulty. I had to leave before Fonzie and Jacob flew theirs, but I bet they went well also.
The Arizona contingent did well too, with their 4-Patriot mobile launch battery, which sent up one huge scale Patriot after the other on low and slow flights and perfect recoveries.
The California folks? Uh, not so much.
There was major carnage of the funny kind (cal-poly building-shaped odd-roc shreds), not-so-funny kind (J1999 drag race with nearly 100% CATOS, squat drag race with 50% of the rockets unstable) and not-at-all funny kind (the first serious injuries I’ve ever heard of in HPR rocketry). There was LCO and RSO decision-making that makes me really appreciate that our club has its head screwed on straight most of the time. And lots and lots of dust, dirt, wind, heat, and sun.

ParticipantThanks guys! I am telling you guys, that four Patriot Missile Battery was one of the coolest things I have ever seen in rocketry. I would say probably one of the coolest launches that weekend! They had perfect flights on all four rockets too! That is hard to do considering the rockets were 7.5″ diameter, K powered!

Is there a way to post a video like we do pictures? I have a pretty good video of the battery launch.

You could post it on Youtube or Photobucket…

If I send it to you will you post it? I do not use either.

I forgot that I have a YouTube account, I am trying to figure it out now. If I can not figure it out I will send it to you. Thanks Chris!

ParticipantThat was sweet. All going up, and at least 3 landing on the flight line. (I didn’t see the 4th.)
Nice.
