I’m planning to get my Technician license next week and then order a beeline transmitter.
Most of the links on the beeline site are out of date, so does anyone have a good source for a radio and handheld yagi? Or would anyone be interested in letting me borrow their’s for some flights at OFest?
I use a Kenwood TH-F6 for radio location with an arrow antenna. The kenwood is probably over kill but receives just about everything, AM, FM – wide & narrow, CW, USB, and LSB. I use it for a satellite rig with the arrow satellite antenna.
Here’s a link for arrow antenna. They’re hard to be beat for the price.

For a cheap starter radio, would this work? Looks like it covers 440.
Yeah, that should work for tracking. It’s a scanner, so you’re only receiving and not transmitting, but that’s o.k. for radio direction finding.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
