Neither the Rocky Mountain Marmot or Pawnee Prairie Dog saw their shadow this morning. Colorado Folklore suggests this means Spring is coming but is still 6 weeks away. Therefore, this is a tentative GO FOR LAUNCH on Saturday, February 5th, from the Atlas Site. Current weather forecasts call for clear to partly cloudy skies, temperatures possibly reaching into the forties and moderate winds from the north. But this is subject to change. If the weather cooperates, we’ll open the range and waiver at 10 AM for Class One and Class Two rockets powered by commercial motors only. Please check with your favorite forecast and plan accordingly. A definitive YEA or NAY will be posted Friday afternoon, depending on the weather, volunteers and interest. All those in favor, please let me know.

Okay then, I’ve gotten a few positive responses and no negatives. The waiver has been called in and hopefully we’ve got a few volunteers and flyers to make this happen. Anyone available to tow the trailer?

Updated forecast has more cloud cover and wind but still pushing into the forties – seems as if it’s worth the chance to fly.

I’m really itching to fly, but in all honesty unless the weather report looks really good I won’t likely make the 2 hour pilgramage up there.

I never seem to make it out to the site very early, prolly since i’m not much of a morning person, 😈 . I’m always good for tearing down and being the last one to leave though. 😳

We probably should have learned by now – trust the forecasts. About a dozen hardy folks showed up this morning for what should have been a pleasant day to launch but the expected winds were very present and stronger than predicted. Still, a great time to stand around and swap laughs. Stood down about noon – no joy this time. Thanks to Bear for towing both ways – March will be a better time out on the range.

Thanks to all the guys who wind allowing, would have made it a great launch. Joe, John S., John W., and Bear for the tow.
