LDRS and BALLS in Gerlach, Nev., for 2013

From an e-mail from Mark Clark on the TRA forum this morning. 8)

The Tripoli Board has awarded LDRS 32 (2013) to Tripoli Gerlach.

LDRS and BALLS will be separate launches on or about the usual dates.

LDRS at Black Rock is not intended to be BALLS. At LDRS there will be all commercial motors and model rockets allowed. Not just the K or larger we do at BALLS

We encourage really high and fast to be launched at BALLS. There will be some guidelines posted concerning this.

At this time the plan is Thursday and Friday will be commercial days Saturday-Monday will be research with away cells only on Sunday and Monday. We will be at the same location on the playa, the host hotel will be in Fernley. The Banquet & Member’s Meeting will be at the Gerlach Community Center.

We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
