ModeratorOver the years flying at the North Site I’ve had the privilege to roam and learn a lot about the prairie. I’ve also had some great recovery trips with good friends that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
I’m putting together an interactive Google Map of what I’ve learned about the North Site. I would guess I’m about 25% done adding things, but so this is a starter. Recovering a rocket up there can be hard, but hopefully this map can help people make a better plan when recovering.

ModeratorAn eventual goal would be to create a landing map based on altitude. That way we could identify trends that would allow us to be better able to make the call about when to fly to higher altitudes and stay within our waiver.
This would require people getting the altitude of their rocket as well as a GPS coordinate of the landing site.
I do this currently, but I don’t know how widespread it would become.
I’m also planning on outlining the owners sometime, once I get more done.

Edward, I may be dense, or just confused. What do you mean by “outlining the owners?”

ModeratorOutlining the parcels that different owners have, with contact information.

I have already done that for about five miles around the north site, if that is of any value to you. I have been desiring to invite the land owners to a launch and a bar-b-que or dinner on one of our weekend events so that we could possibly build relationships with them.

ModeratorI’d love to get that and integrate that into this map if possible.

ParticipantNathan was helpful to Mike S. and me during a long search for a 5,000 foot flight. He is the young guy from the ranch to the due east of the site.
He seemed rather interested and helpful, once he understood what we were doing.
My guess is that we could leave a note in their mailbox for an invite.

If you do, make sure it is “by the mailbox”, not “in”. I believe that’s a felony if you’re not the postman or the owner of the box. 🙄
Don’t want to piss them off before we even get to talk with them!

ParticipantI’ll just attach you name to the return field;-)
