Great job by NCR leadership this morning in scrubbing the November launch. Once we got to the site, the grass was still longer and dryer than expected. After a very good discussion of pros and cons the launch was cancelled. Even though disapointing not to launch, this was the right decision and leadership deserves a pat on the back for handling it so well!

Members and friends,
Here is a little feedback from Jon Halverson (Forest Service Permit Administrator) and his boss.
Curtis Youngman (Pawnee District Ranger) wanted me to pass on the following message in response to NCR’s deciding not to launch this past weekend:
Please express to them my gratitude for their willingness to make those kinds of calls. It is for that reason that I am happy to work with them and support their activities. I have a lot of trust and respect for Joe and the others in their group who repeatedly show responsible management and concern.
I happily second his comments, by the way.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
