Wow. So sorry to see this. He was at several launches this year. Can't get my mind to accept this. Godspeed Scott; wish it wasn't so. You are missed.
Tough to comprehend – he was meticulous and precise. As was noted elsewhere, at least he died doing something he really enjoyed.
This sad news is a real kick in the gut. Scott was always smiling and generous with his time. The last time I saw him, I think it was at Mayhem, he was helping his grandkids launch.
And seconding your point, Steve, I actually overheard a news report late Monday or early Tuesday. I wasn't paying much attention. My first thought was about how dangerous Longs Peak is this time of year (or anytime), but my second thought was… what a coincidence that the victim had the same name as one of my rocket buddies. My mind didn't even entertain the possibility that they were one and the same.
I believe we lost Scott Corliss in a fall on Longs Peak this past weekend …

We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
