Members and Friends,
Apologies for the late notice – NCR will NOT be launching rockets from the Pawnee National Grassland over the Labor Day weekend. Yes, Federal Fire Restrictions have been lifted but the prairie remains very dry and crispy and the Fire Danger remains elevated. Hopefully conditions will improve and our chances of holding Oktoberfest continue to look strong. In the meantime, the opportunities to launch are many over the Labor Day Weekend. SCORE is hosting their Chili Blaster launch event, the San Luis Valley Rocketeers are hosting a weekend of fun in Alamosa and the folks with Kloudbusters are hosting their 27th Annual Airfest in Argonia. And Tripoli Colorado is still planning to hold their Fall Frenzy September 18th and 19th in Hartsel.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
