I’m working on a 2x upscale corona. The ring tail prevent the use of rail buttons, would 1/4″ launch lugs be ok to use?
Why does it prevent the use of rail buttons?
Is it too small for the rail to go between the body tube and the ring fin?
If so, what size motor mount are you using? This is how I would determine whether 1/4″ is enough.
I’m using a 38mm mmt. I don’t think ther will be enough room for the rail between the ring and the body tube. The ring is 4″ in dia and the body is 2.1″ in dia.
Yeah, that is pushing it a bit.
In that case, I’d go for a 3/8″ rod. I’ve flown up to a hard hitting I motor off that, and I would probably trust a J. It should work fine for that rocket, though a rail would be preferable if it worked.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
