Anyone in the Boulder/Longmont area have a piece of 3″ phenolic tube I can buy? 2-3 feet give or take would be great.
Thanks.
If you cant find one in boulder/Longmont area, I have a 23.5″ piece up here in Loveland.
Ken,
I have a 13.5″ piece you can have, or a 3′ section section from a PML Quick Switch motor mount kit you can use.
Ed
Thanks guys.
Ed, the 13.5 inch would be perfect. Thanks. I’ll need to cut it into 8 pieces to test how well they will all fit along the inside circumference of a custom 11″ tube I made. I can drive by after work if you are home this week. If not, maybe sometime this weekend.
Thanks again. I owe you one…
If you give me the ID of your tube and I have the OD of the 3″ tube I can model this in CAD in about 30 seconds. Might be easier.
Edward
Thanks Edward. I’m thinking of using coupler tubes with an OD of 3″. Based on my layout using a compass, the ID of the large outside tube is 10.8″. I made a FG tube using 12″ sonotube as the mandrel (had to cut about 4″ from the circumference), but I won’t know if the ID is correct until I line it with either 3″ couplers or regular 3″ tubes or maybe a combination of both. Cardboard is a pain to cut so I don’t know yet if I have the ID of the large tube correct. From PML’s website the OD of a 3″ airframe is 3.124.
Ken.
Hmmm….
I think I smell a Saturn 1B in the works. Way cool.
Either that or a cluster of 8 75mm motors – that would work too.
Or better yet, a Saturn 1B WITH a cluster of 8 75mm motors!!! 😈
