I have a few projects planned out to take on the “Unknown Comic” John W. in some altitude attempts this year. .
Hey, if I’d known THAT I wouldn’t have volunteered those cones to you 😉 All the NCR records are reachable, with the possible exception of the I… that was set on an I32, which is essentially gone from the face of the earth. I believe that record is safe. The K and M records are especially attainable to those who will go after them, IMHO. The M record was set on a small M hybrid, so it has considerable upside (no pun intended).
Tony is the king of altitude — I’m astounded at some of his stuff. Tony has helped me a lot on things like high altitude BP issues, etc. and he gets up there with EX loads. Very cool!

That is what John S. would have said. No helping the enemy…right. Thanks John, I am going for the ex records. Maybe the club needs to have EX records like TRA, that way you can still keep yours since I don’t fly commercial motors anymore. Plus I really am testing design for right now anyway. Not at your and Tony’s level yet, but I am working towards it.

Mike, Yes I missed you at Balls last year. Router+finger=not good! I’ve checked your web site a few time have seen courage…very nice I was playing around with the numbers on a long 3″ motor and was just getting ready to build it…when I decided what the heck go big or go home sort of thing….so I went with a 5″ min dia. After all, what could go wrong?
TonyHey Tony looking forward to seeing you this year at Balls. I have several projects going, I just have not updated my web site in a while. I went through the pages on your site and got a couple of ideas.
I have a couple of big projects I have been working on as well. One is an 8 inch vehicle which like Courage will be the motor case and also the rocket body but it will be a solid motor not a hybrid. The other one I can’t tell you about here on the forum. I will shoot you an email later in the week.

I’d love seeing the club records broken down into the same categories as TRA (single motor, staged, EX, hybrid, etc.)
Tony, our dart is indeed 29mm. We are going to start with a 75mm diameter booster staging to a 29mm dart. Actually, given some of the tiny altimeters, one could probably go all the way down to 24mm on the dart. I have some 29mm glass tubing (somewhere! lost it when I moved) and I’m going to utilize that.
For added mass I’m going to either use lead shot or sand. I’ll build it as heavy as possible. My hunch is that it will take some lead shot to do the trick.
It would be very below average to have a lead nose cone get loose from 30K 😮 😮 😮 😮 😮

There IS some low hanging fruit out there as far as club records are concerned. John’s L record of only 23K and change is one – the world record is around 28K+… Others are equally attainable. The M record in particular is seriously low hanging fruit. Personally, the F and G records are gonna fall and probably the H record too…

Warren, now that we are hosting research launches, should the club have Ex records for altitude?

ModeratorI was planning on setting up EX records, staged records, clustered records…basically mirroring the record system that Tripoli has. Code is in development.

Think I been misquoted here. I think i said I would gladly share any thought, idea, or notion i have on HPR, and do so on a daily basis on several forums, But if it came down to big pot showdown my technology would be open, but the blueprints would lay low.
Which is the next remark iirc–why not fly an open contest–everyone lay open their blues, and pick among them. So not sure how thats not helping the enemy. Looking for a little innovation and spirit is all, and wanting to set te record “straight”
Cheers.
