Ive got 3 of the 40K units myself and someday will hope to push even ebyond those if all goes as my plans are for a someday venture. I also have a 25K version as well. will probably give it to my daughter for her use.. but Over time Ive probably owned 12 to 14 of em.. I got my first ever venture away from them here recently with an ARTS.. Mainly for data as well as just to have a different unit.. If Jims Mpacs were out I would have opted for it instead.
OK. I am getting (RRC2X a switch and a battery holder.from Missle Works)
Best wire. To wire this togeather I was considering using
some wire I found for a Train Hobbyist.
What would be suggested?
Thanks Mike
I use either 22 or 24 gauge stranded wire. It’s flexible and less prone to breaking after numerous bends. You can fold and tin the ends for a solid connection to the terminal blocks on the RRC2. Run the J1 and J2 wires through the bulk head and connect to terminal blocks on the outside of the bulk heads. Seal the holes with epoxy to make an air tight seal inside the av bay. For a connection to switch leads, use heat shrink tube after you solder the wires. This will strengthen the connection and will cover up the solder joints.
At Oktoberfest, I noticed that my 40k MWC altimeter was giving me two beeps instead of its usual three, which means that channel 2 is go, but channel 1 is not. I only needed channel 2 for main deploy, so she flew. The fact that I obliterated my drogue and forced the main out at apogee is… kinda irrelevant. Embarrassing, but irrelevant. The main charge went off, so my trusted MWC altimeter did its job. However, when I do the output test, both channels signal they’re fine, full continuity and ready to go. It’s just that the beeps after initialization don’t indicate that. It’s still within its year warranty. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, advise. My wife got me this one for Christmas last year. So, I can still send it back to Jim. I’m going to verify this before I do though. Just need opinions. Thanks ahead of time! 🙂
