Perhaps he was meaning it was heavy relative to the SU K250? That is probably very true.
I’ve been eyeing the motors in that range K250,270,350 for my Competitor 3 L2 flight. Gotta build the thing first, tho.

Indeed, the K350 is heavier relative to the Aerotech K250. The Loki load is also a good deal longer, coming in at nearly 29″. Rockets that I built for the L330 are too short for the Loki K350, and due to design issues, I have some real challenges there. All I can do is hang the motor out the aft end – which is exactly what I plan to do. It seems like a cheesy way to go, though 😳
The good news on the K350 is that you have a much better anchor point up top, and you get rid of the medusa nozzle. I am not a fan of medusas (that would be kindling for another thread). The K350 is a fine load, and I look forward to flying it. I just don’t think it is “the” load for a K altitude attempt.. and sadly, I don’t see anything else that even comes close. The new K250 is 2x the cost and ~450NS less total impulse.

Hey! BDCR flew a number of times that way. It was designed for the AT M1315 but someone got it in there mind that I should fly the M2200 and M2500 from AMW. Since motor retention was from the forward end, I just added a 9 inch piece of tubing. I guess it did look kind of strange but it flew fine.

Doug, that is good to know – It looks OK in Rocksim, I’ll check the CG/CP on game day.
Wayne Mrazek – Hybrid Pioneer and all around AWESOME guy flew “Quadrophenia” – a 4xM cluster – with all of them hanging out.
I am assuming most have heard of Wayne’s untimely passing a few weeks ago? Wayne was a great man in and out of rocketry and he will be missed. Sometime around the campfire I’ll tell a cool story about him. Awesome guy.
Always good to check the CP/CG with a mod like that. Mine was not minimum diameter and had over sized fins. I would like to hear the story about Wayne. John, are you going to be in CO for NCR’s launch next month? I am going to make every effort to be there.

Will the 54/2560 case fit the firestorm 54?
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
