That’s a really cool obsession! Nice work! When you upscale to where you fan fly someone in it, I’m only 5’7″, and I’ll do it! Just add some controls…
Lol, the scary part of that is ive thought of how I could put myself in a rocket. That would be a fun rocket to fly in though. Of course the image of that full size X-wing flight makes me shudder.
Ed Dawson has this dream of building a full scale Mercury Redstone. I’d definitely like to ride in that one, too!
Bruce,
I’ve been thinking about that one… With the economy in the dumpster I may have to scale back a bit.
If you were to build a 2.5 foot diameter (roughly 40% scale) Redstone then you could sheet the outside walls with 8 foot panels of .032″ G10. That might make it a lot more feasible from a cost perspective.
If I were to add a porthole on the capsule (so that you would be able to see out) could you still fit inside?
8′ panels of G10 would be way pricey. Far more than building it out of a big sonotube with glass reinforcing. Full scale, I think your G10 bill might run well up into 5 figures
Why not a ‘Rocketeer’ rocket pack w/two ‘N’ somethings
and a chute.
I would voluneer Mr. BSchaefer for that too 😆
All jokes aside. It sure is giving Me upscale feaver. BOMARC

Here are more upscales.

Ed, I think I could fit into that… 😉

The quasi-official club motto comes to mind: “I’d go ahead and try that if I were you”.

I have a updated pic of the 1/2 scale viper with paint and decals.
After a flawless flight on a A10, it gets its coverings.
The 1.5 is almost done and the 3x is taking forever to sand, lol
If anyone wants to build a half scaler, I made 3 extra sets of decals.

We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
