The first tropical storm of the Atlantic hurricane season has just been named Adrian. I bet the northern Colorado Adrain can get a bird higher than the tops of a tropical storm or hurricane. They normally do not exceed 50,000 feet. 😆
and he’d only need a J motor to do it 😉
Given that Adrian broke 14K with an H motor, I wouldn’t be surprised. Amazing what a professional can do when they put their mind to it. I’m still kinda stunned by the H flight – I heard the beeps myself… stunning. Gives me a great deal of confidence in the group project he, I and John Wilke have built – now if we can only all get to BALLS at the same time, I fully expect to hit the predicted altitude.
Warren and Adrian, tell us more about this group project for those of us that do not know! I thought it rather impressive to have a tropical storm named after you. A poor second I am sure, though.
Thanks, Bear.
And storm turned into a Category 4, annular hurricane, apparently pretty rare. And it didn’t even hurt anybody! Woo hoo!.

I’ve been trying and failing to get a combination of 3 Js over 50kft the last couple of years at Balls. One of these years, hopefully. Not this year, though, because of LDRS.
As a reminder, send a rocket between 40k and 50k at LDRS with less certified impulse than anyone else and win a Raven and 38mm av-bay!
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
