ParticipantIf there’s time, post some pictures of the DC-30 in “as delivered” and “for rocketry” configurations. Throw a ruler in the picture for some scale, or next to a DC-20 for reference.
For my planned re-housing of the DC-20 (or 30), I would probably go with a very short right angle cable to a bulkhead fitting, to isolate the antenna and its associated stresses from the pcba. Anybody got a dimensioned drawing of the pcb outline? I doubt if Garmin would supply such details.
Thanks,
Kenp.s. I just had a very good phone interview. Hopefully to be followed with a real in-person interview soon. Once re-employed, I’ll just have to go buy one of the dog trackers and get on with it!

I don’t think even Mike has dissected a DC30 yet. Would be nice if they’ve shrunk it further or fixed the problem with the antenna connector going the wrong direction (for us anyway).
KenIve got a DC-30 showing up tomarrow, and Ill have it in my rocket this weekend. If you each give me a dollar you can look at it! Might even let you touch it for two! 😉 (hey its expensive and ive got to get some of my money back)
Although I wouldnt be suprised if Mike has one this weekend too. 🙂Well….
I got the DC-30 yesterday. The gps reciever is seperate from the board, on top of the coller. I had to cut it out. The board is narrower (the good part) and the antena screws on separate. The problem is the ant. mount is moulded into the case (probably soldered to the board last)
The last thing is the ant. is longer and I dont see this as a positive thing for us. I do see the the posibility for a more compact assembly for smaller tubes. But considering I have another Dc-20 showing up today I bought for $100.00
as opposed to $185.00, for the Dc-30 I going to attempt to acumulate more DC-20s for a while.Scott e

ParticipantAnyone in the Longmont area have an Astro gps I can borrow to test some DC20’s I bought on ebay? I just want to make sure they’re functional before leaving feedback.
I’ve got a week and a half of real vacation before starting my new job, so I want to make the most of it.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Ken,
I’m in Longmont, and I have an Astro. We could get together and make sure your new DC20’s work. Speaking of working, ‘grats on the new job.
