KeymasterOk I got this huge plastic egg for a buck and it just screams nosecone.
I want to use it to lay fiberglass down on it. Its made of some kind of plastic that feels like nylon.https://picasaweb.google.com/djsroc/RecentlyUpdated?authkey=Gv1sRgCLGa0cW55p-hBw#
What I want to know is what would I need to put on the egg to keep the fiberglass from sticking to it. I do want to keep the egg for future projects.
Thanks

Warren B. MusselmanModeratorAlmost looks like a LEGG’s egg… but bigger.
Guaranteed to work, vaseline.

Doug GerrardParticipantI wouldn’t trust my nest egg to Vaseline. I would splurge the $17 and buy some High Temperature Partall. Even the low temp stuff is only $13. I’ve been using the same tin for nearly a decade and still have plenty for my projects for the next decade.

Warren B. MusselmanModeratorOK… well if you have the right tool for the job.
Hope we have a Mile High Mayhem for you to come to Doug. Fire ban in April ain’t a good sign.

Doug GerrardParticipantBy the way, I use the PartAll for all kinds of things. Even when I’m gluing in a t-nut to the inside of an airframe, I add this to the screw that holds in in place just in case some epoxy gets on the threads. I have also used it for coating the molds for pouring expanding foam nose cones and it released just fine. If you every worked with expanding foam, its about the stickiest stuff ever. PartAll is the best stuff I’ve seen to use when you don’t want any glue to stick to something.

Warren B. MusselmanModeratorI’m going to have to pick some Partall up. I typically fill t-nut threads with vaseline.

KeymasterIll give PartAll a try. This wont be something ill be doing too soon, got way too many projects ahead of it. Thanks all for the ideas.

Doug, how much does that thing weigh? Even if its light, you better get it x-rayed or something. We’d all hate to discover that you had been eaten alive by a hungry alien hatchling!

KeymasterIt is super light, havent weighed it yet. Has to be under a 1/2 pound.
If you shake it though something inside growls a bit 😀 -
