Well I was only able to get a few pictures of the Oktoberfest launch this year. I was kinda really relying on my video camera getting good footage. Well since I had my little choke issue, I turned on my camera to adjust the carb and I thought I turned it on which I did not so no video from the morning flight. Although I do have great video of me running, running and more running before I figured out the choke was on. I also did not get any night flight video. I turned on the camera and hit the record button but since I did not have it flipped open I hit the record button before to was totally booted up so again no night video. I did get a few still camera pictures if you are interested but I was really there to help out Chris and Steve Frazier get their level three certs. Congrats to them and all the other level 3 cert guys that made it on Saturday.

When flying and shootinf pictures, you should go by a check list.
1.Lens cap off
2 Camera on.
3 Take Picture.Did you loose any wieght from all that running? 😉

No weight loss that I really should have received as far as I ran.
I know my flying check list is three pages long already. I really have no problem with the still camera but the helmet cam is still new so I am learning the ins and outs of using it. Problem was I was frustrated with the motor so I really did not take the time to focus on the camera before I took off. Especially since it was just after the waiver opened and rockets where flying I wanted to get up and out of the way.
Next year should be better however. I will be more proficient at getting footage. I am currently looking into video glasses that will allow me to see what the video camera sees while I’m flying but allowing to me to see where I am going as well.

Great Shots, Mike!
We launch in a gorgeous part of the country. Send the pics to Warren or Jeremiah and hopefully we can get these on the NCR webpage.
Thanks for sharing – you ex-EX guy.

Jeffrey Joe HintonModeratorHey, it should probably be pointed out somewhere that the Rental Thrones were spaced a quartermile apart and at about 3 PM on Saturday, Jon Skuba counted over 130 vehicles (cars and RV’s) parked thereabouts. One nice day of weather sure helps bring out the flyers and friends.

I did notice it was a bit of a hike, from one to the other. 😯

Warren B. MusselmanModeratorPersonally, being prone to park in the middle of the flight line, that the walk to the thrones is a bit long. After all, it’s awful hard to make it to the throne in a timely manner when you’re too busy hopping from one foot to the other. We need a throne in the middle of the flight line!
