3 Dogs Rocketry (and my 3 mascots) will be headed to Wyoming for some Aspen viewing – so I won’t be there. I hope you guys have calm winds, blue skies, and a great time in Hartsel!
Ya know, you can look at trees in Colorado. We have them here, too 😉

Probably my favorite Colorado spots are up around Steamboat and DEFINITELY McClure Pass. That being said, Steamboat is on the way to Baggs, WY and the traffic will be 2% of what it is in CO. A few years ago I was at Hartsel and the “viewing” traffic was absurd. I was sure there was an accident up ahead, but the radio said it was folks out looking at the leaves…. The Baggs road is gravel – and indeed, the “road less traveled” as Robert Frost would say.
There is really something very extra-ordinary about rounding the top of Kenosha Pass and and seeing the valley and mountians beyond spread out as wide as the eye-camera lens allows. Colorado is a very special place…
It is, in fact, such a spectacular view that I’ve found it impossible to capture it on camera.
Dave, I’d recommend Canon’s EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM. Does a very nice job.

So, is it on or is it off?
Octoberfest 2010 is cancelled…. Cleanup this Sunday, Oct. 3rd @9am. @ Mr Ed’s place.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
