Anyone planning on flying any there? If you are and don’t have your own GSE please contact me ahead of time so I can have the support you need. I charge for N2O by the pound, $3.50 per pound.

Many of us are interested. It is one of those things on my rocket bucket list.
Is anyone commercially offering hybrids anymore?
RATT Works, Hypertech and Contrail still do. My recommendation would be RATT Works. Simple and easy to work with. Less parts and Dave knows what he is doing. If you can find a set of SRS hardware (29, 38 or 54mm) I’ve got a stock of reloads for them. And I’ve make clone reloads for them for research days.
I think the last person (besides me) to fly them was BEAR last year. Skuba and Eric Parsons are the only other’s I remember.

Any recommendations regarding 38 vs. 54? I’ll be at MHM and I may hunt you down for a chat, if you’re available.

Same as between 38mm solids and 54mm solids. More impulse. 38mm goes from H-I (some very low J’s) and 54mm goes from J-K. I do have the full SRS 38 and 54mm set that I loan out.

The main difference between hybrids and solids are:
Generally lower average thrust but longer burn time.
Motors are longer.
Center of gravity is further back.
More complicated motor assembly.
Lower cost per flight (if using club GSE)
Little or no regulation.
ALWAYS have to use electronic deployment.
Are obsolete since TRA won the lawsuit (re: Dave Hanson)
The easiest thing to do is go in Open Rocket and design rockets using some of the motors to see the differences.
I like them because they are reliable, lower cost and when doing research hybrids I have many, many options.

We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
