The main difference between hybrids and solids are:
Generally lower average thrust but longer burn time.
Motors are longer.
Center of gravity is further back.
More complicated motor assembly.
Lower cost per flight (if using club GSE)
Little or no regulation.
ALWAYS have to use electronic deployment.
Are obsolete since TRA won the lawsuit (re: Dave Hanson)
The easiest thing to do is go in Open Rocket and design rockets using some of the motors to see the differences.
I like them because they are reliable, lower cost and when doing research hybrids I have many, many options.
