Looking forward to the July 8 launch. Saturday only, but with a big waiver? I don’t have any other obligations that weekend, so I’m good to go. I’ll have a 2-stage ready to try out as a dry run for LDRS.
Maybe something has changed that I am unaware of, but I thought the launch in July, according to the launch schedule to the left shows the launch on Saturday, July 9 and research flights on sunday, July 10. This is what I am planning on, but if I am wrong, please correct me so I can get in sync. 😕
Pretty sure that’s a typo on Adrian’s part. The July launch is scheduled for Saturday, July 9th (commercial motors) and Sunday, July 10th (TRA Research) and yes, there are supposed to be “windows of opportunity” for higher shots than the standing 20K waiver on both days. “Windows” will be coordinated on site, on a needed basis, with prior notification requested. I am currently aware of Adrian’s, Bdale’s and Mark’s desires.
I guess I can’t read the calendar correctly 😳
Sounds good, though, to have a couple of options for weather.
I too have interest in the BIG window, never can have to much sun light.
Are you all flying on Saturday or Sunday?
Saturday night. I assume this is still allowed?
Steve
Ok I would like to shoot for a 0900 – 1100 launch window for my L3 attempt and will need a 35k waiver during that time, so Joe if you could pencil that in that would be great. I also think Doug Krohn and Scott Martin are planning on flying their kestrels on the K300s at that time so will also need the window.
Since JW signed off on my project I need a separate TAP to witness the flight. Art or James are you planning on being there Sat?
I plan on setting my tower up before hand and if anyone else is interested in a commercial altitude shot you are welcome to use it just let me know beforehand.
Thanks!! -Sean
Regarding the July launch – this weekend has shaped up to be a larger than life gathering for High Skies in July so I really hope there are a few extra volunteers to help make the launch run smoothly. We’ll be looking for LCO’s and fire watchers and I’m still looking for someone to tow the trailer out and back. Let me know if you’re available. Thanks.
When’s set up? I will try to get there in time for set up.

We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
