On the Kestrel Motor butt part. 😉
How do you retain the motor and anchor off the chord.
I was thinking that it might me a canidate for one of these plumbing
expansion plugs. And a built in warning sign. All credit to Adrian for this. 8)

ModeratorWell, I believe the Tapered Rear closure will help keep the motor in the bird and the attachment point will be the newly designed/certified Tapped Forward smoke grain holder bulkhead piece – 1/4-20 threaded hole suitable for attachment point of kevlar leash/connectivity cord. Something like that…

Participantmotor retention is what Adrian and I have been doing for years – “friction fit” 😀 It works great. I’ve done it probably 150 times and never lost a motor.
For shock cord attachment, Dr. J has a fwd closure that has a 1/4-20 hole inside. I have also taped a flat Kevlar strap down the side of the motor and tied off to that…

I would buy one.I have one or two of the new fwd closures. I’ll give you one next launch – remind me a day or two before, though!

ParticipantIs there really a forward closure for Pro54 motors? Or what is this tapped threaded bulkhead you speak of?

ParticipantNormally, it’d be the delay element & ejection charge holder. In some of the 54 loads, it’s plugged & tapped. I think it’s all the long-burn versions. Is somewhat reusable.

It has a tee nut backing it. Might not of ripped the front or the coupler off a couple years ago if I had it then…….. of coarse, I had the closure on the back of the case unscrew last year and the whole moter pulled through! 😆
Cant seem to quit dropping Fin Cans from 10,000 feet unassisted by parachute! 😉 -
