Wish my RRC2X hadn’t gone belly up.
Let me clarify this. It went belly-up because I blew the booster up beneath it. I prefer MWC products over any other. Jim Amos was asking if anyone wanted to test his new electronics (mPAC?) at MHM. Hope someone is taking him up on that. Once that system is on the market, I doubt if anyone can match it.

Beings that I have an agreement with Jim Amos to be “Basically” under NDA with the documents and info he has shared. I have seen/have the documents and info as well as know what the new products are about and will bring with an idea of all its features performance and even an idea on price. When the original RRC2 and RRC2x units came out they were the fire of all talk and want. they put this hobby on its ear and became the standard for all others to judge by. Still today at this very time I would be willing to bet that there are more Missile Works altimeter/recovery products being used and flown then any other out there. With knowing of the extreme creativeness, Ingenuity, Brilliance as well as being quite probably one of the most talented and intelligent folks this hobby has to offer that his new offerings will be even more so of a hit for best product as well as best for what the dollar gets then any other. It should again stand this hobby on its ear with what it brings. I can say this. its not the Mpac. But quite very well what I believe at the moment is a far bit better and usable by most all flyer’s. I will be test flying Jim’s new unit in Full Throttle on Sunday. Hoping to give it a thrill ride with its cousin my RRC2x 40K unit. Both should see well past Mach (closer to Mach 1.5) Roughly about 15gee’s and right around 16 to 17 K in altitude. The motor is one that we have put together in Wimpy Red. 7 Grain 98-17500 case with full smoke. Right at 16,406 ns classed at a N-3530 with about 4.75 sec burn time. Should test Jim’s new unit quite nicely I hope.

Thats Jim’s call as its his property and all I am doing is some testing. I would believe that he will want it quite and not shown ( I believe these are the prototypes we are flying) until its time to release the standard products out.

Yep, and until his pending patents are finalized, it’s best he keep it under wraps. As soon as it’s released to market, while he’ll have the temporary edge, his competitors will de-engineer it and market their copies. Then it becomes a price war. Of course, all NCR members will know which one is best. 😉 Plus, it’s best to keep people in awe until all the ducks are in a row.

Heck – I already know which is the best…
Even though I have a new R-DAS tiny (which I can’t wait to fly, BTW), I’ll still always fly at least one RRC2X in my rockets, as they are great, simple, reliable units that will always get the chute out…
Until Jim comes out with something better than the RRC2X that is…

Well, guys, picked my rocket up from Art today… had this big smile on my face the whole drive home, and it wasn’t just the fumes from the clear-coat. He did an excellent job. Jim Amos will get my WRC2 to me on Thursday, and I’ll join all of you Friday afternoon! I’ll make my L3 attempt sometime Saturday, when James sets the time. My being very cautious (paranoid, fearful, scared “into constipation”) is turning into a calm excitement. Kinda getting surreal, but so cool! I’ve done all I can to ensure a safe flight… the rest is up to the rocket gods.
