I think it would also be nice to have people GPS waypoint the landing points of their rockets. This coupled with weight, diameter and motor information could give us a good trend on where rockets are landing. I know at TC we did this and the pattern was interesting. This would also give people looking through the flight logs to see about how their rocket will perform and compare this with their simulations in Rocsim.

I like that idea Ed… I’m going to talk to Jeremiah about adding Lat/Long fields to the launch log flight records. Like altitude, they’ll only work if people report them on the flight card, but the idea has merit.

I’m all over that. I carry a GPS when I go out so I can find my way back to the launch site :-O and I would gladly log that info on the flight card as well.

Yes, I’d be happy to do that too, if there were a place to put that information. It took me a minute to realize that I don’t need to fly a GPS for this to work, just carry one when I go to pick up the rocket.
For your continued map playing fun, here is yet another source for areal maps. We use Terraserver for our work and found the pictures to be much clearer than the others. I think this link will work. The big diagonal line from upper left to lower right is the new LPG line diggings…

We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
