I plan on bringing about ten gallons of water to put out by the pads just in case. Is this a poor idea, or is it prudent, and if a good idea, maybe others will do the same so that we are prepared. If we don’t need it, then we can water the grass so that it might be a little greener by May!
EVERYONE STOP – I have just been advised by the USFS that permission to proceed with our planned launch has been rescinded due to elevated concerns and a risk assesment by their in the field Rangers. NO GO FOR LAUNCH ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. National Fire Watch advisories in effect and until conditions improve substantially, even our “Permited” activities are on hold.
Common sense prevails…to cancel this April launch…. maybe next month……or maybe go South ,,,,till advised of safe conditions. 🙁
Don’t know about you guys, but this false alarm was just what I needed to get me off my keister and re-build my 29mm nosecone last night. And now I have time to re-do it right this time. 🙄
There’s always Tripoli Colorado next weekend…
Art and I flew over the launch site this morning- definitely dry. I would suspect that the winds would have shut down the launch by 11:30am given what we experienced aloft.
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
