The LOC H45 is a terrific L1 kit. I did my L1 on a LOC Vulcanite, and a buddy of mine did his on an H45. Both great rockets… I very nearly did an upscale Vulcanite for my L3.
I’m keeping the L1 flight conservative as well. The same rocket, but no electronics and only one motor. Tim’s L1 deal with Cessaroni is too good to pass up. Haven’t decided between the H153 or H143SS. Both work in the case from the $20 deal.

but after L1, things get fun and expensive 😈
I’m in the same boat for my L1. I might try to L2 with the same rocket, but we’ll see. Tim’s Cesaroni deal is just that…an EXCELLENT deal that I’m going to have to take him up on as well!
Well, I’m certainly not going to win any awards for a quick build. Only 2 weeks left until Mayhem. At this rate, I’ll be lucky if she flies naked. Updated pictures at http://www.putfile.com/kfranzel/images/77902.
Still need to fillet the fins, put together the recovery harness, and drill a few more holes for rivets, pressure relief holes, altimeter vents, etc, and mount the switch for the altimeter.
Mixed my first batch of West this weekend. Man, that’s runny stuff when you’re used to off-the-rack tube epoxy! Have to see how it goes with the microballoons for the fillets.

It certainly is a lot thinner than the standard stuff.
As for procrastination – I was throwing the final layer of tip to tip on my deuce the Tuesday before Oktoberfest. You aren’t the only one 🙂
We are Good to Go with our scheduled and approved launch on Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 6th, from the North Site, subject to change – Mostly cloudy and High Winds predicted. Range and waiver should be active by 9AM on Saturday. The Pawnee National Grassland remains fragile and dry, so extra precautions are in order. Please stay on the authorized roads and please don’t park more than 100’ off the road at the flight line.
